6 Security Flaws That Led to the Destruction of the Death Star: Cybersecurity

There are many parallels between the droids and hard drives of the Star Wars universe and IoT devices – there is very little, if any encryption.

When Rebels Cassian Andor, Jyn Erso and K-2SO sneak into the Empire’s data storage facility on Scarif, K-2SO easily steals information from a fellow droid.

It’s probably also worth mentioning the fact that K-2SO was a former droid of the Empire reprogrammed by the Rebellion to fight for their cause. Why won’t the empire encrypt their droids?

Speaking of encryption, the Rebels steal the Death Star plans and eventually transmit them to a rebel ship.

Spoiler alert: The plans are unencrypted and the rebels would go on to destroy the Death Star with them.
