AlertEnterprise at ISC West 2022: Policy-Based Access Control Cloud Service

With the PBAC Cloud service, users can leverage existing PACS, while integrating the latest credentialing and authorization technologies.

ISC West 2022 will be held March 22-25 at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas. Ahead of this year’s show, SSI heard from Jason Alestra, vice president of strategic channel sales, North America, for AlertEnterprise. He discusses what the company will be showcasing at ISC West, its value proposition and more.

What is a leading product or offering your company is showing off at ISCW this year, and what makes it unique or special?

In today’s reality of hybrid work, where work schedules have become more sporadic, legacy physical access control system limitations, coupled with overwhelming manual requirements for managing access, lead many security teams to simply assign 24/7 access for each cardholder.

In response, at ISC West we’re introducing the industry’s first policy-based access control (PBAC) Cloud service for physical security. With PBAC customers can go from “all the time” to real-time authorization using a Zero Trust approach to physical access.

With our PBAC Cloud service customers can leverage their existing PACS, all while integrating the latest credentialing and authorization technologies—including mobile credentialing and IP-enabled biometric readers. Customers can automate access according to individual schedules and current policies, ditching the 24/7 cardholder access approach.

And we’re thrilled to offer this industry’s first policy-based access control Cloud service, in partnership with BioConnect, as they help us bridge legacy PACS with the latest authentication technology.

Any other products or offerings you would like to highlight?

As we’ve moved to a completely Cloud-based platform, we’re continuing to see tremendous growth and opportunity for our customers and integrators with visitor management. We’ll be demonstrating our latest features from online pre-registration and self-service QR code mobile check-in to automatic host notification of visitor arrivals and check-outs. And for our healthcare customers, we’re featuring our latest integration with EPIC software.

There’s no doubt that the past two years have accelerated enterprise digital transformation – it’s the only way forward. For any Cloud-focused enterprise, access now rules the security landscape. Every attacker wants it, and every employee has it. We believe more than ever that it’s time to wipe out silos across IT, OT and Physical Security and keep identity at the core of a cyber-physical access management strategy.

To that end, we’re excited to show our all new A.I. Insider Threat Protection Cloud platform. Our AI and machine learning-powered platform dramatically reduces the time and cost for SOC personnel to detect and resolve cyber-physical access risk. But it’s hard to get ahead of risk when everyone has a different sense of what’s happening. We’ll be showing how our SaaS platform can leverage data companies already have to deliver visibility across IT, OT, HR and physical security so they can detect, prevent and mitigate risk.

What else is new or noteworthy about the company for 2022?

As part of our company’s big goals for growth, I joined AlertEnterprise to spearhead the creation of our security integration reseller channel. I’ve spent the last 8+ years in the industry building and managing high-performance sales teams as a manufacturer, but often draw on my time as an integrator to understand the needs of our channel.  I’m actively adding to our regional sales team across three new territories in North America. We’re also excited to already have several new integrators on-board and are looking to partner with resellers who are already positioned or are looking to help customers converge IT, OT and physical security in cost effective and powerful way.

Under the leadership of our new Chief Revenue Officer, David Cassady, and with the full support of our executive team, we’re all-in and 100% committed to the success of our integrator reseller channel.

What is your company’s overall value proposition to security dealers/integrators? Why should they do business with you?

There are currently major silos across divisions like IT, OT and physical security. And we’re the only provider that can truly bridge those – no coding required. This opportunity allows integrators to grow their business using existing systems and our Cloud platform.

Plus, we create everything with simplicity in mind. Since everything is Cloud-based, there is no heavy lifting when it comes to implementation. Every project comes with a 1-year support program; a project manager and programmer, assigned to help create things like use-cases, data flows, implementation and testing. After a full year of training, we provide additional opportunities for support as an add-on ongoing service.

Cloud-based platforms that integrate with legacy systems also mean shipping delays and supply chain issues are a thing of the past. With immediacy of products and benefits, billing and revenue streams funnel in quickly. And the hyper-scale Cloud solution allows the system to easily grow at the user’s pace.

What do you see as some of the top opportunities in the marketplace right now?

Since the start of the pandemic, the market has significantly changed—as has the need for companies to quickly adapt. Hybrid work is no longer considered an “if”, which poses challenges for how employees and visitors access the workplace, both physically and virtually. AlertEnterprise empowers integrators to work alongside their customer’s existing systems, without the standard rip-and-replace tactic.

There is currently a big push for our visitor management platform from our partners, most of whom have only scratched the surface of the value we can provide on a 3- to 5-year roadmap. And then there’s the opportunity to create partnerships with manufacturers who use other services but don’t currently have a visitor management platform.

As everything transitions to the Cloud, identity and access stand at the core. Delivering cyber-physical identity, access and security position Cloud-focused companies to forge the path forward in this new hybrid, Cloud-based world.
