GE Interlogix Acquires MAS, Kampro in Short Timeframe

PLAINVILLE, Conn.—GE Industrial Systems in June acquired two companies within a week of each other that provide different products and services to the security industry.
The company first announced it had acquired Monitoring Automation Systems (MAS) of Irvine, Calif. Almost a week later, officials announced its purchase of Kampro Inc., of Taipei, Taiwan, a developer and maker of high-performance image sensing technologies for all types of applications.

MAS provides automation software for central security station monitoring and secure business communications. Its products support fire, medical, intrusion and other central station monitoring activities. MAS’ product portfolio includes wireless and GPS communication tools, including asset tracking, video and control integration products for false alarm reduction, and Web-based services for premise management.

Kampro’s product lineup includes a range of high-performance image sensing products that feature ultra-low light, ultra-high sensitive, high-resolution, harsh-environment technologies.

Ken Boyda, president and CEO of GE Interlogix, says the purchase of MAS will result in new security solution offerings and an expanded customer base. “MAS products will help GE bring to customers new solutions to improve operating productivity and to increase system functionality, including critical event detection and enhanced alarm verification capabilities.”

With Kampro, Boyda says GE Interlogix has dealt with the company as a long-time buyer of its image sensing products.

“As part of GE, Kampro will be developing technologies that filter an incredibly wide variety of light conditions and can see tremendous details across one of the widest dynamic ranges in the world,” he says.

Boyda adds that the quality history of GE’s relationship with Kampro was a major factor in its decision to acquire the company’s assets.
