ISC East Regains Momentum as 10,000 Descend on Big Apple
NEW YORK — Reed Exhibitions is reporting this year’s International Security Conference (ISC) East at New York’s Jacob Javits Convention Center was the most attended show to date. In support of that declaration, Reed says just over 10,000 security professionals filled the main floor at the center, representing a 15-percent increase compared to 2005 attendance. The numbers seemed to pump new life into the show, which experienced waning attendance in recent years.
Held Oct. 24 and 25, the exhibition focused on the convergence of physical and IT security, and was co-located with the preexisting IT security event, Infosecurity New York. More than 2,800 IT professionals attended the latter event, which occupied the center’s first floor, says Beth Blake, public relations director for Reed Exhibitions. Among the 375 exhibitors filling the 69,000-square-foot main floor: ADI, Brink’s, Bosch, DSC, HID Global, Honeywell, IR Security & Safety, NAPCO, Panasonic, Pelco and Tyco. About 500 manufacturers and suppliers displayed their wares between the two shows.
Away from the show floors, many attendees took in the New York nightlife, cavorting at industry-sponsored events like ADI’s annual dealer appreciation party at Pascha nightclub. “We had over 1,200 of our customers attend,” says Cliff O’Shea, ADI’s director of marketing. “It’s a chance for us to mingle with the customers and just give them a big thank you.”
At the sold out Tri-Industry Association Gala, partiers donned appropriate garb to fete the Roaring 1920s. You can read more about that soiree and a lot more in Donna Soloway’s “On the Scene” column on page 74.
The 2007 ISC East show will return to the Jacob Javits Convention Center on Sept. 11 and 12. For more information, visit www.isceast.com.
