ISC East to Unite Physical, IT Security Professionals
NEW YORK – As the security industry evolves at breakneck speed, this year’s International Security Conference (ISC) East is making every attempt to progress right along with it.
Case in point: the convergence of physical and IT security. Reed Exhibitions announced earlier this year it would co-locate ISC East with its preexisting IT security event, Infosecurity New York, at the Jacob Javits Convention in New York, held Oct. 24-25. “We felt it was an opportune time to bring these two shows together, to bring their two distinct audiences together, because they are really driving the convergence,” says Dean Russo, group vice president of Reed’s security and life-safety portfolio.
The addition of the Infosecurity New York show allows ISC East to focus on the core physical security disciplines, Russo says. In all, about 500 manufacturers and suppliers will display their wares.
The ISC educational program, IP Institute, will present a wide offering of convergence instruction covering such topics as systems design, technology applications, networking/IP, CCTV/surveillance and management issues.
Security Sales & Integration’s own Bob Grossman, who pens the “Enterprising Solutions” column each month, is a featured instructor. Grossman, president of R. Grossman and Associates, will teach “CCTV: Designing for the Future Using Today’s Technology” on Oct. 24 (3 p.m.-5 p.m.).The conference portion of the event begins Oct. 23.
Two general sessions will be geared for both IT and physical security professionals. On Oct. 24, the FBI’s Mark Mershon, assistant director in charge of the New York field office, will provide the keynote.
On Oct. 25, the “Not In My Network” convergence panel discussion will focus on the union of the two security industries. For more information and to view a complete list of events and activities associated with ISC East, visit www.isceast.com.
