HES to Unveil New Cabinet Locks at ASIS 2017, Provide Tech Preview
HES will introduce a new cabinet locking solution for doors and drawers this winter, but unveil the new K20 and KP20 cabinet locks first at ASIS 2017.
DALLAS — HES is a leading manufacturer of electro-mechanical locking solutions for the access control industry. SSI spoke with Ann Glaser, Marketing Planner, ASSA ABLOY EMS&OEM Group, to see what the company has planned for ASIS 2017 and beyond.
What is the top product or offering you are showing off at ASIS 2017, and what makes it unique or special from both security integrator and user perspectives?
HES will introduce a new cabinet locking solution for doors and drawers this winter but we’ll unveil the new K20 and KP20 cabinet locks first at ASIS 2017. The K20 cabinet locks with card readers and KP20 keypad cabinet locks will offer affordable yet polished solutions to secure stand alone drawers and doors for residential, commercial and institutional applications. Think everything from lockers at schools, gyms and amusement parks to at-home file storage and liquor cabinets!
As more people carry increasingly valuable personal devices and items, the K20 and KP20 offer high-tech locking solutions for physical asset protection without complex wiring or the need for power sources. The K20 offers card reader technology while the KP20 allows keypad control for instant flexibility and access or denial. The K20 & KP20 cabinet locks are a new addition to ASSA ABLOY’s offering in North America and will be available globally.
What other products or offerings would you like to highlight, and what are some of qualities that differentiate them in the marketplace?
More advanced wireless locking solutions include Aperio Wireless Lock Technology in our K100 cabinet locks and KS100 server cabinet locks. Integrating Aperio Wireless Lock Technology makes it easy and cost-effective to extend access control to drawers and doors where an audit trail and/or monitoring are required.
More customers are discovering the difference of the HES 1500/1600 Series electric strike platform. Viewed as the next generation of electric strikes, the 1500/1600 Series evolves our electric strikes from single solution options to dynamic and modular complete solutions that offer the flexibility that installers demand.The platform’s innovative design accommodates every brand of cylindrical and mortise lock designed to work with a 4-7/8” strike plate. The adjustability of the integrated shim and interchangeable faceplates allows installers to overcome unexpected door conditions and challenges on the job site.
In addition, the M680E series with EcoMag technology from Securitron delivers the same unsurpassed intelligence, style and convenience as the previous M680 series, but with an increased holding force of 1,200 lbs and up to 80% reduction in energy consumption. Built-in door prop sensing allows the magnet to de-energize the coil when the door is held open for extended periods, dropping power draw even further.
Installation time has been decreased with the new strike plate mounting template, ensuring perfect strike alignment. Increased strength, all-in-one integration, decreased energy consumption. The new Securitron M680E EcoMag is the most advanced (and eco-friendly) maglock available.
What else is new or noteworthy about the company as the end of 2017 draws near?
HES is not only introducing and evolving products to meet customer demands for quality and convenience, we’re seeking to help customers fulfill additional industry demands. For instance, at ASIS, we’ll be providing a tech preview of the KS200 server cabinet lock, which will feature upgraded card technology to better allow end-users to monitor critical access control information while meeting and/or surpassing strict government compliance requirements.

For instance, we have seen great opportunities for cabinet locks in education and healthcare in the past few years. For the future, we see expansion of our cabinet lock portfolio to strengthen asset protection in emerging workplace environments such as shared work spaces.
ASSA ABLOY is consistently at the forefront of emerging trends in both product and markets. In addition, HES offers a wide range of ways to secure openings. While this provides flexibility and freedom of choice, it can lead to complexity for the consumer. HES will refine and redefine our products to reduce complexity in both design and ordering while continuing to lead in product innovation in 2018 and beyond.
