SSI recently took an in-depth look at the cloud security space, highlighting some of the opportunities and challenges for integrators in this mushrooming sector of the market and the different ways in which their customers are reacting to moving their data to the cloud.

Judy Jones, NAPCO Security Technologies vice president of marketing, took some time to talk about the company’s cloud-based offerings and how its partners are embracing the ongoing shift in how they handle security for their customers.

Security Sales & Integration: From what you see with your integrator partners, is there a willingness and an appetite to embrace the cloud migration?

Judy Jones: Cloud-based services are clearly omnipresent today in security and all sorts of applications in life, and all industries today. Despite early security and privacy concerns, cloud technology is now widely regarded as equal, or even more secure than that of a physical server or on-prem server.

Germane to the security marketplace, cloud-based hosted solutions and hybrids provide advanced security and more usable access control of staff and premises, while saving customer resources , i.e., investment in hardware, software updates and inhouse personnel, as these systems are remotely managed by the integrator/provider.

By minimizing the upfront investment, better security management is increasingly available to smaller and newer, growing companies and small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) of all scopes and sizes.

Also, by customers/accounts having their security integrator administer their system, it typically enables personnel updates to be made more swiftly (which yields better personnel security) and the systems themselves are always updated (which translates to better cybersecurity).

SSI: How is NAPCO leaning into emerging cloud opportunities and empowering integrators to maximize them?

JJ: Napco’s Continental Access division, renamed Napco Access Pro to be more all-encompassing, was an early pioneer in access control, actually creating the trademark “CardAccess” for its original system.

But, today, as varied as access control applications and technologies are, Napco Access Pro is pleased to be single-source provider for scalable access control solutions for all applications and budgets: From sister division Alarm Lock’s top-rated standalone or networked wireless locking; to our web-browser based Linux access systems called E-Access;  to new cloud system, MVP Access, being honored here, with no on-prem server and fastest setup.

And, last but not least,  Continental’s enterprise systems, known for decades of field-longevity and robustness, literally integrate all NAPCO Security Technologies’ core competencies and product lines, in security alarms, locking and access control. Plus, our new CA4K Enterprise release, v1.2, out this month, with some all-new controllers to follow,  includes new integration with intercoms, biometrics; plus MFA,  geofencing and featuring the Napco’s first NFC solution for mobile credentials, conveniently yet securely stored in clients’ smartphone wallets.

Indeed , the new CA4K release is a perfect blend of added security and convenience, because, as we all know, if they don’t or can’t use a system , it’s not really adding security or value.

SSI: Do you have any other thoughts you’d like to share?

JJ: Beyond all our great technology, plus in-house and multi-partner integrations, Napco Access Pro offers a new, very rewarding Dealer Program for integrators, about a year old now, for those who want to grow their company with ours.

It’s been very successful initially and includes attractive, preferred pricing levels, special hotline customer care and field support, trainings  and much more. And we’re still adding new dealers today. So if you’re interested, reach out.
