Oregon College’s IP-Based System Enables Wireless Enrollment

Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore., pairs AMAG Technology’s Symmetry security system with rugged, hand-held computers to enable wireless enrollment.

Integrator Allied Fire & Security managed the installation, which incorporated DAP Technologies’ Guard System rugged, hand-held wireless computers to increase the efficiency of data collection, processing and transmission, according to Allied.

“AMAG, Allied and DAP offered an integrated, reliable and flexible system that met Lane’s needs now, and will grow with them into the future,” says Mark Conger, Allied’s security consultant.

The system also integrates with R32, the college’s class scheduling software system. This three-way integration shares the same database allowing mobile enrollment.

LCC’s Symmetry Enterprise security system consists of 400 Smartcard readers, approximately 50 video cameras and AMAG’s Symmetry Edge Network Controller, which is a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) one-door controller.

“Lane Community College was looking for an integrated IP-centric security system that would satisfy their access control, video and wireless enrollment and verification needs,” says Matt Barnette, AMAG Technology’s vice president of sales and marketing.
