Today’s Cloud-based platforms, unified systems and mobile apps enable security pros to deliver large-scale benefits and controls to smaller commercial clients and smart home dwellers.
INTRODUCING TODAY’S EVER-EXPANDING UNIFIED CLOUD PLATFORMS
Because today’s new and improved third-party Cloud platforms are able to provide real-time command and control as well as full-system programming remote from a protected facility, perhaps we can label them yet another “as a service” — unified security as a service (USaaS).
Here’s a glimpse of offerings from Cloud-friendly software and hardware providers Alarm.com, Brivo, DMP, NAPCO and S2 with descriptions from the companies.
Alarm.com — Recently released a service called Alarm.com for Business that offers SMBs a third-party Cloud service that combines smart intrusion detection with access control, in addition to video surveillance and energy management. This includes command and control of your client’s networkable electromechanical and electronic locks.
Besides real-time command and control over all access control points, this includes real-time control and the programming of event schedules and user data, all of which are needed for the day-to-day operation of an access control system. Aside from a PC or LAN (Local Area Network) workstation, these subsystems also can be performed with an ordinary smartphone, tablet or laptop.
Brivo — The Onair unified security platform combines access control and video surveillance to put you in control of your facilities from anywhere, with any device. Automate the security and management of your building access control systems with our scalable Cloud-based physical security platform.
Brivo Onair is for customers looking to: automate access with cyber-secure practices; monitor building use; man-age multiple doors and locations; restrict access to specific users at specific times; access doors, garages and elevators from mobile device; avoid rekeying or reissuing replacement credentials; issue and revoke credentials instantly; select from proprietary or open standard solutions; and select the credential, reader and lock brands that meet clients’ needs.
DMP — Virtual Keypad App provides Apple iPhone/iPad and Android owners with the ability to access a number of security system keypad functions remotely via cellular or network connection. The app allows users to remotely control lights, thermostats, door locks, appliances, cameras and more via an easy-to-use interface along with standard features such as arming/disarming, checking status, area arming and output control.
Plus, dealers have the opportunity to brand the app by inserting their logos, contact details and social media icons. Extend the life and expand the capabilities of older panels by adding the power of the CellComSLC and CellComSLCZ cellular communication. With this communications add-on, almost every panel can take advantage of revenue-building remote system management and control features.
NAPCO — iBridge Connected Home and Smart Business offers more affordable smart device control of security, video, temperature, lighting and locking via WiFi and Z-Wave, with iBridge Messenger app providing accounts SMStText or MMS video alert notifications. New iBridge WiFi Remote HD Video Service features Gen. 2 HD pro indoor/outdoor cameras and can be used standalone with remote iBridge Video App with two-way voice, or integrated with StarLink Connect and the iBridge App and IoT suite of services. StarLink Connect also provides cellular and/or IP communications along with a full virtual keypad app that uses full data uploading/downloading with real-time programming.
S2 Security — S2 Magic Monitor Version 6 unifies access control, video surveillance, forensics, digital signage and live Internet feeds in a single user interface. Version 6 introduces enhanced access control functionality and a new web widget, further unifying the security management experience. “Version 6 delivers on Magic Monitor’s promise to unify all of the user’s security needs within a single, intuitive interface,” says John Moss, CEO, S2 Security and SSI Industry Hall of Fame inductee. “Security professionals will benefit from greater situational awareness and operational efficiency as Magic Monitor helps streamline their workflows.”
