SBT Acquires Access Control Firm MAC Systems

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. — Siemens Building Technologies Inc. (SBT) has completed its purchase of MAC Systems Inc. of Canton, Mass., and will integrate the company with its branch operations located throughout the New England states.

The newly acquired systems integrator, with about 60 employees, has been installing and servicing access control and security management systems in the New England region since 1981. A member of SecurityNet, the network of independently owned systems integrators, MAC Systems will continue to operate from its current location for the near term.

With more than 4,000 separate installations and nearly 20,000 card readers managing facility access, the company’s customer base represents some of the most prominent organizations, businesses and institutions in New England, says George West, vice president and head of SBT Security Solutions Business Unit.

“Our customers throughout New England will benefit from the combined resources and experience of our two companies,” West says.
