ScanSource Kicks Off 2009 IP Workshops
ScanSource Security, recently recognized as one of Fortune magazine’s “World’s Most Admired Companies List” for its quality of service and support, has kicked off the 2009 edition of its IP Workshop series. The workshops are developed to train and educate dealers on the benefits of offering IP-based physical security solutions to their end-user customers.
Due to positive feedback during its 2008 workshops, ScanSource has incorporated wireless education into each series installment this year. The wireless module will focus on point-to-point, point-to-multi-point and mesh network solutions.
This year’s series will also focus on the technologies of 14 of the company’s partners, including Alvarion, Axis Communications, Cisco, DigiOp, Dotworkz, HID, IQinVision, Keri Systems, OnSSI, Panasonic Systems Solutions Co., Quadrox, Ruckus Wireless, Sony and Tropos Networks.
Each two-day workshop consists of a Networking 101 class, the comprehensive introduction to wireless, and an overview of video basics and access control technologies. Attendees will also have an opportunity to visit vendor displays to learn more about the specific products being featured at the workshop.
“These workshops were created to help our dealers learn more about the evolving landscape of the security market and to ensure they are on the leading-edge of new technologies, so that as the security market changes, they can remain ahead of the competition,” says Paul Constantine, vice president of merchandising, ScanSource Security.

- Chicago—June 9-10
- Seattle—Aug. 11-12
