Vicon Breaks Into Access Control Market

Video surveillance systems provider Vicon Industries Inc. will debut its new IP-based access control management system at ISC West 2009 in Las Vegas. The official launch of the Vicon SMS links ViconNet video with corresponding access control events, which can then be called up and viewed via the Vicon SMS interface.
The edge device technology enables the system to function independently of any PC software, according to the company. The application-based system consists of a controller and one or more “nodes” that connects to readers, sensors and other physical security devices. The operating system, database engine and application software reside within these appliances.
