Virtual Keys from CellGate Empower Multi-Family Property Managers, Residents

Virtual keys can be set up by property managers through the use of CellGate’s administrative engine called TrueCloud Connect

CARROLLTON, Texas—The wireless access control company CellGate has just introduced a family of digital virtual key solutions for its Watch W480, W482, W461, WXL and WXL2 multi-family products.

The company’s virtual keys are QR code or pin code keys that can be issued to visitors of a multi-family property. CellGate states that property managers can determine if they are the only ones that can issue the virtual keys or they can allow residents to issue a key or possibly specific key types.

“Virtual Keys solve so many potential problems for them [property managers], including a simple user interface, having clear, actionable data on who is using them and when, and enhanced property security,” notes Noel Goldin, founder and president of CellGate.

CellGate Virtual Keys Adapt Depending on Usage Scenario

According to the company, its virtual key access control solution can be shared with a single visitor and individual keys can be setup with recurring and restricted access to a property. CellGate explains visitors can be issued a QR code by a resident or property manager and those QR codes can be refreshed after each visit.

CellGate points out the ability to refresh the QR codes eliminates screen shot sharing to improve a property’s security, and individual virtual keys can be limited by day, time, number of uses, and with restrictions on which entry points a visitor can use.

The company asserts that its new access control solution complements resident lifestyles in which visitors engage in activities such as dog walking, landscaping, pool cleaning and baby sitting. Individual keys can be stored in a smart device’s electronic wallet or calendar for quick access, and property managers can create virtual keys through CellGate’s administrative engine called TrueCloud Connect.

“Virtual keys solve so many potential problems for them [property managers and residents], including a simple user experience, having clear, actionable data on who is using them and when, and enhanced property security,” adds Gouldin. “Residents are happier because they don’t hav to hassle with getting physical keys or fobs for their visitors, and don’t need property management help to arrange temporary access for someone. Property managers can give their residents these tools and simply monitor how they are used, including revoking credentials quickly if necessary.”
