Johnson Controls to Highlight Home Automation System, LTE Communicator at ISC West 2018

SSI spoke with Steve Shapiro, general manager of residential, commercial and connected home products at Johnson Controls to find out what the company will have to offer at ISC West this year. You can find them at booth 20005.
What is the top product or offering your company is showing off at ISC West this year, and what makes it unique or special?
We are proud to show the iotega. iotega is our fully encrypted security and home automation system which elevates homes and businesses to a new level of security while including remote interactive smart services and allowing new revenue streams for security dealers. It provides superior reliability with end-to-end 128-bit AES encrypted 2-way wireless sensors and includes multiple advanced security features such as a built-in siren, two-way voice, 99 user codes and Transport Layer Security. PowerG technology addresses the key requirements for wireless security systems, including reliability, performance, privacy, minimizing vulnerability, increasing usability and decreasing maintenance. It’s discrete in design, including a unique vanishing touch keypad, as well as an optional 7” WiFi enabled touchscreen, wireless keypad arming station and flexible software app compatibility.
And we are proud to be showing that iotega is supporting Apple HomeKit with operational demos at ISC West.
What other products or offerings would you like to highlight, and what are some of their unique qualities?
Our Universal LTE Communicator ensures current and future compatibility with more modern cellular (LTE) networks as mobile providers begin to phase out their legacy 2G/3G communication networks. It supports both Contact ID/SIA dial capture and on-board input/output connectivity and is compatible with nearly all panels already installed and offered in the market today.
What else is new or noteworthy about the company for 2018?
We are also launching the inclusion of PowerG, our 2-way encrypted wireless technology is available on our Qolsys IQ2 security and home control system. The Qolsys IQ2 is a very unique system with a built in 7” touchscreen, consumer-oriented self-help videos built in, and it offers one-way encrypted wireless sensors as well was two-way encrypted wireless sensors. There isn’t anything like it on the market.
What is your company’s overall value proposition to installing security dealers/integrators? Why should they do business with you?
Johnson Controls is THE company with the broadest most comprehensive line of products for the security dealers/integrators. We offer residential and commercial products with encrypted wireless security that cannot be matched. In a world of cyber concerns, the JCI line of products gives the security dealer and integrator a product family that helps them and their customers.
What do you see as some of the top opportunities in the marketplace right now?
We have built our products to address one of the main issues, and opportunities, we see in the marketplace at this time — providing products that are more secure. End-user customers seek wireless solutions; the rise and risk of cyber attacks and hacking is on the rise. This makes the need for a strong encrypted wireless solution more necessary now than ever before.
