Presented by the Security Industry Association (SIA), the Securing New Ground 2016 conference was held Oct. 19-20 in New York City. NEW YORK – A lot has changed in the more than 20 years since the Securing New Ground (SNG) conference was founded, particularly in technology and the business issues surrounding them. That was abundantly clear at the latest edition of the electronic security executive forum, which has evolved from being predominately about the alarm industry to now diving deeply into the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, Big Data, connected homes and other new technology frontiers and challenges.
The event, organized by the Security Industry Association (SIA), gathered a couple hundred of the industry’s leading integrator, manufacturer, consultant, media and other security professionals Oct. 19-20 at New York’s Grand Hyatt adjacent to Grand Central Station for about a dozen panel discussions and other presentations. The overriding themes were how today’s security practitioners can adapt to technological changes, shifting business models and end users’ needs. Real-time polls and questions using attendees’ smartphones enlivened SNG’s interactivity. Security Sales & Integration was one of the event’s media sponsors.
Check out the following photo-based summary of what transpired throughout the thought-provoking conference, which is much about high-level networking as it is about high-level security issues.
