Swann Adds Google Assistant Voice Control to Wired Cameras

Swann claims to be the first security company to bring voice control technology to wired multicamera systems.

LOS ANGELES —  Swann, a global leader in DIY security, says it has become the first company to launch Google Assistant voice control on its multicamera wired surveillance systems.

End-users can use voice commands to stream video from their security cameras to their TV using the Google Assistant via Google Home and Chromecast.

Voice command such as “Okay Google, show me channel one” or “Hey Google, show me the front door” will bring up camera feeds hands-free.

“The team at Swann is excited to make home security easier for consumers to integrate into their daily lives,” says Mike Lucas, CEO of Swann. “As consumers continue to add technology to their home, ease of use will be critical to ensuring a successful user experience.”

To utilize voice control on Swann wired cameras, users must download Swann’s HomeSafe View app onto their mobile device and pair it with the Google Assistant.

“Voice assistant integration is a top technology trend of 2018 across a variety of consumer electronics which includes home security. While some wireless cameras have incorporated voice integrations, Swann is the first to bring this technology to wired multicamera systems where we lead the market. Wired systems remain more robust and secure compared to their wireless counterparts and can offer users a view of multiple cameras on their TV with a simple voice command,” says Alex Talevski, chief technology officer at Swann.
