ADT Takes Home 2021 TMA/SSI Monitoring Technology Marvel Award
The Marvel Award recognizes monitoring centers for creating and/or using cutting-edge technology and to raise awareness of these new technologies.
ADT will be featured in the August 2021 Monitoring Issue of SSI, along with runners-up Acadian Monitoring Services and General Monitoring Services.
McLEAN, Va. — ADT (NYSE: ADT) is the recipient of the 2021 TMA/SSI Monitoring Technology Marvel Award.
The Marvel Award is co-sponsored by Security Sales & Integration and The Monitoring Association and coordinated by the TMA Technology Committee. The objective of the Marvel is to provide recognition for monitoring centers creating and/or using cutting-edge technology, and to raise awareness of these new technologies.
TMA and SSI Editor-in-Chief/Associate Publisher Scott Goldfine bestowed the Marvel Award to Affiliated Monitoring during a virtual presentation on Thursday. Leah Page, vice president, mobile security & strategic projects, accepted the award on behalf of the company. In selecting ADT for the award, a panel of judges noted the company’s SoSecure app.
SoSecure by ADT is an iOS and Android safety app. It gives customers access to the company’s monitoring and emergency response with a simple swipe, tap or voice command on their mobile phone. GPS location, personally identifiable details and any available contextual data is shared with emergency responders unless the user indicates (with authentication) that the request was an accident.
With an estimated 240 million calls made to 911 in the United States annually, often with limited location data according to the National Emergency Number Association (NENA), this can potentially be lifesaving.
ADT also notifies family and friends in case of an emergency, providing added reassurance. SoSecure’s core safety features, including sending an SOS alert by sliding a button or via SMS chat, are provided free of charge.

The Marvel Award is presented annually to one overall winner for the “best adoption of new technology to advance your business.” Submissions can include implementations of the following categories:
- Best implementation of video verification
- Best implementation of PERS monitoring
- Best technology to build efficiency in monitoring
- Best migration to the Cloud
- New levels of efficiency or effectiveness within the business
- Heightened level of protection or privacy (physical and cybersecurity)
The 2021 Marvel Award runners-up are Acadian Monitoring Services and General Monitoring Services. ADT will be featured in the August 2021 Monitoring Issue of SSI. The runners-up will also receive coverage in the issue.
