Bates Security Comes to the Rescue With Its SAMMY-Winning ‘BatesMobile’
The vehicles, which are a play on the Batmobile, are given to new salespeople and are spreading the word around Lexington, Ky.

People in Lexington, Ky., and surrounding areas can spot a security integrator to the rescue quite easily. Based there, Bates Security and its “BatesMobile” vehicle fleet – particularly the salespeople’s cars – oftentimes get the bat signal from interested prospects.
“BatesMobile is absolutely a play on the Batmobile vehicle. We definitely try to have fun with our marketing and this was an easy way to do so,” says Jeremy Bates, general manager.
“Our vehicle fleet continues to grow,” says Crystal Newton, marketing coordinator. “As we grow and expand, we hire new salespeople and each is assigned a BatesMobile. For sales, we wanted a distinctive vehicle from our service and installation vehicles, yet complementing to our existing fleet.”
After receiving a positive reaction to the company’s initial Ford Focus BatesMobile vehicle wrap, Bates Security purchased one for each member of its sales team. In addition, several managers drive BatesMobiles and the security provider also has a Ford Escape with the matching design.
“The design is simple, but more playful than our service and installation vehicles,” says Newton. “The bright yellow logo lies over the dark navy to ‘pop’ and be seen easily from a distance. The logo easily explains at a glance who we are and what we do. Our services, phone number and Web site are easily located and not overshadowed by the design of the wrap.”
The designs are proportional to the vehicle size and shape, notes Newton. “Though we have a seen a lot of beautifully wrapped and creative designs, it seemed the best use for a rolling billboard was a clean and simple look,” adds Bates. “Our brand and our services needed to be recognized quickly, from close up or from afar.”
Additionally, Bates Security takes advantage of Honeywell dealer program benefits that helps to reduce the cost of each wrap, she says. The head-turning results speak for themselves.
“Bates Security is represented well with the company vehicle graphics that we have designed. ‘We see your vans everywhere,’ is a common comment that our employees hear,” Newton says. “Because we track each and every lead we get, we know that in 2015, our leads as a result of vehicle graphics alone were up 196% over 2014.”
