Council Passes Ordinance in Baldwin Borough, Pa.

BALDWIN BOROUGH, Pa.—The Baldwin Borough Council voted 4-3 on Jan. 15 to approve a false alarm ordinance. Included in the ordinance are graduated fines for repeat offenders, as well as the creation of an alarm administrator position, a five-member alarm review board and classes for alarm abusers.

Alarm owners are allowed three false alarms in a year before the graduated fees take effect. After the fourth false, alarm owners will be charged $50; after the fifth false alarm, $100; sixth and seventh, $200 and eighth, $300 each.

It will be up to the discretion of the alarm administrator to allow an offender to forego the payment of a fine and, instead, substitute an alarm-abuser awareness class.Source: False Alarm Network (FAN)
