ESI Gears Up for ISC Expo West With 4 Seminars

LAS VEGAS

The Electronic Systems Institute (ESI) will host four educational seminars during the International Security Conference (ISC) and Exposition West held April 4-5 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas. The ESI seminars are co-sponsored by the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) and Security Sales. According to NBFAA, all seminars are approved for CEUs by the National Training School (NTS), and will be taught by certified NTS instructors.

Following is the ESI schedule of seminars and workshops:

Certified Security Apprentice: New for 2001

Dates: April 4-5

Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: Sands Room 303

Cost: $295 per NBFAA member/$350 per nonmember

A 16-hour skills-based course that teaches all the job skills that are required to be successful as an apprentice installer. Individuals take part in hands-on experiments, which demonstrate their ability to perform in the field.

Certified Security Installer: New for 2001

Dates: April 4-5

Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: Sands Room 304

Cost: $295 per NBFAA member/$350 per nonmember

A 16-hour companion course to Certified Security Apprentice, teaches the rest of the installation story. More advanced skills are covered with a focus on supervising apprentices and achieving technical expertise.

Life Safety Code 97 (LSC 97)

Date: April 4

Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: Sands Room 305

Cost: $195 per NBFAA member/$250 per nonmember

An 8-hour study of fire alarm requirements from the NFPA 101-97 Life Safety Code. Upon completion, the student will have a basic familiarity with the codebook and be able to identify the requirements and components needed for any building to be compliant, irrespective of its occupancy. The seminar is designed to provide excellent preparation for the Life Safety Code segments of the NICET exams.

Central Station Operators:

Date: April 5

Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: Sands Room 305

Cost: $195 per NBFAA member/$250 per nonmember

An 8-hour course for central station personnel. The successful student will be able to present an overview of the alarm industry and the role of the central station operator in it, and review common procedures and methods for monitoring alarm systems.
