2025 Security Industry Predictions: Candice Aragon, Chief Experience Officer, PSA

Aragon is the latest to break out her crystal ball to predict what’s coming in the security industry in the next year.

In the latest entry in our 2025 Security Industry Predictions series, Candice Aragon, chief experience officer for PSA, joins in on the fun.

Here’s what she sees ahead for the space.

Security Sales & Integration: On the business and operations side, which single factor (e.g., interest rates, talent-related issues, geopolitical stressors) poses the biggest challenge for security businesses right now? How can business owners mitigate their downside risk?

Candice Aragon: The largest challenge facing security integrators today is talent-related. Many owners are reaching retirement age without a succession plan in place to secure the future of their businesses. Simultaneously, the industry struggles to attract next-generation talent.

At PSA, we’ve seen this as an opportunity to support our integrators for some time. This led us to partner with the Security Industry Association to develop and release a Careers Guide. The Guide can be used to showcase clear career paths in the security industry, demonstrate industry growth and opportunities and strengthen hiring efforts.

We are encouraging our integrators to reach out in their local markets and forge relationships with universities, colleges and trade schools to disseminate the Careers Guide.

SSI: What’s getting better about the security industry these days? What seems to be getting worse and worse?

Aragon: The increase in diversity in security is hugely encouraging. In the six years I’ve been in the industry, I see exponentially more women at events. Likewise, we now have a female-centered conference in Security LeadHER.

To be at a security event with over 400 women in the room is an emotional experience… in a good way!

SSI: What’s the single most pressing issue that professionals in the security industry should look to tackle right now?

Aragon: The most pressing issues for systems integrators to address are talent challenges – succession planning, retention, and recruitment to the industry. Many systems integrators are being acquired, some are going out of business with no one to take over when an owner retires.

There will be fewer players in the field in the coming years and to keep diverse businesses thriving, integrators must work on their corporate cultures.

SSI: Finish this sentence: 2025 will be remembered as the year that the security industry…

Aragon: … took huge steps forward in spreading awareness about our amazing industry and making tangible strides in rolling out a recruitment program for security industry talent.
