Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Lieutenant/Commander John Weinstein was a late stand-in for his associate, NOVA Chief of Police/Director of Public Safety Dan Dusseau, who had been claimed ill, for the “Higher Ed General Session: Making Campuses Safer – TOGETHER.” Weinstein did an excellent job filling in with solid questions and thoughtful follow-ups and interjections. On the downside, he left no time during or at the end for audience questions. The dialog revolved around the University of North Carolina, Charlotte’s recent active-shooter incident. UNCC paid $4 million dollars ($1,500 per door) for its card access control system that can be completely locked down with the push of a single button.
