ESX Cancels In-Person Event, Will Pivot to Virtual Experience

ESX stated that it was canceling the 2021 in-person edition of its event “out of an abundance of concern for the well-being of our community.”

CHICAGO — The Electronic Security Association (ESA) just announced that the 2021 Electronic Security Expo (ESX) will no longer take place as an in-person, as it would not “be in the best interest of the health and safety of the ESX Community.”

Originally slated to take place June 15-18 in Louisville, Ky., the event will now take place as a virtual experience.

“Simply put, we decided that there are too many public health variables beyond our control for us to convene our community safely in person this June,” says Merlin Guilbeau, CEO of the Electronic Security Association and SSI Industry Hall of Famer. “We will always place the highest priority on the well-being of our participants.”

An announcement states:

Thank you for your interest in the Electronic Security Expo (ESX). Out of an abundance of concern for the well-being of our community, with many variables beyond our control, we believe moving forward with an in-person event in Louisville would not be in the best interest of the health and safety of the ESX Community.

The 2021 ESX Virtual Experience will take place this coming June 15-17. The electronic security and life safety industry trusts ESX to deliver quality conversations and educational content. As we transform ESX into a virtual experience, our mission will remain the same – to inspire industry professionals.

The ESX 2021 Virtual Experience will inform and inspire you through a blend of live and on-demand sessions that will empower your business and teams. Program highlights include:

  • 24 peer-delivered educational sessions on topics including: attracting employees, reducing truck rolls, sales compensations plans, financial statement literacy, customer attrition and much more
  • Meaningful keynotes that will inform, inspire and challenge the status quo
  • Virtual networking opportunities – including text chats, video calls and question-and answer opportunities – with fellow attendees and exhibitors
  • The ability to schedule one-on-one meetings with fellow attendees within the event platform
  • Access to companies with next gen technologies and services for consumers and businesses

Watch ESXweb.com for complete event details as they become available. Registration is now open, with advance discounts are available for those who act by April 30.

Guilbeau adds, “We know our community relies on ESX for quality conversations and best practice sharing — and we are committed to delivering this virtually this June. Now more than ever, security professionals are looking for experience-based insight, new ideas and practical technologies that will help their companies adapt and thrive in today’s changing business climate. We believe we have crafted an attendee experience that will do just that regardless of the role you play in the industry ecosystem.”

Last year’s in-person event was also cancelled. A virtual event was explored but never materialized.

Earlier this year, ESA announced it had acquired full ownership of ESX from The Monitoring Association (TMA).
