Former White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly to Keynote GSX 2019

Kelly’s presentation, focusing on geopolitics and security, will kick off Military and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — John F. Kelly, the decorated U.S. Marine Corps general (retired), will provide a keynote address at GSX 2019 on Sept. 11 at the McCormick Place in Chicago.

Kelly’s presentation, focusing on geopolitics and security, will kick off Military and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at 8:30 a.m.

Kelly enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1970 and went on to serve in a number of command, staff and school assignments. During his command of SOUTHCOM, he worked closely with professionals in U.S. law enforcement — particularly the FBI, DEA and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) — dealing with the flow of drugs, people and other threats against the U.S. homeland.

He went on to become the Secretary of Homeland Security before serving the nation again as White House Chief of Staff until January 2019.

In an announcement, GSX states: Kelly’s unique ability to provide first-hand insight into the evolving geopolitical landscape around the world is valuable when contextualizing the U.S.’s security priorities from a historical, current and future perspective. Kelly will share insights on the trends, risks and potential rewards amid the “hot spots” around the globe, and the role the U.S. plays (and should play), in our nation and world’s security.

GSX will be announcing keynote presenters for Sept. 9, 10 and 12 at a later date. The conference will be held Sept. 8-12 and feature an exhibition of more than 550 suppliers and service providers. Also, the GSX education program — led by ASIS, InfraGard and Cyber Security Summit subject matter experts — consists of a full curriculum of content in an immersive and interactive learning environment, offering insights and best practices to security professionals at every stage in their career.
