Systems Integrator A3 Communications Acquired by Cook & Boardman

IRMO, S.C. — Systems integrator A3 Communications, based here, has been acquired by Cook & Boardman Group, a specialty distributor of commercial door entry solutions.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Established in 1990, A3 specializes in video surveillance and access control, enterprise networking, structured cabling, electrical services, unified communications, virtualization/storage solutions, A/V and managed services.
The integrator serves more than 1,300 active customers across six branches located in Irmo, Greenville and Charleston, S.C., as well as Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C., and Atlanta. The company serves multiple end markets, including education (K-12 and higher education), local and state governments, and enterprise commercial sectors.
A3 is led by Brian Thomas, the company’s president and CEO since 2012. He will continue to serve as president of A3 under C&B’s ownership, according to a press release.

During the past several years A3 has invested significant resources to expand its geographic footprint, strengthen its service and product offerings, and deepen its bench of sales and executive talent, Thomas says.
