Allied Universal Acquires Chicago-Based Phoenix Systems & Service

PSSI, with revenues exceeding $16 million and 35 employees, is a leading provider of access control, digital video, optical turnstiles and intercom systems.

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Allied Universal, based here, has acquired Phoenix Systems & Service (PSSI), a full-service security systems integrator providing security solutions to customers in Chicago and across the nation.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“The acquisition of Phoenix Systems & Service will help us expand our technology services business in Illinois and nationally,” states Steve Jones, CEO of Allied Universal. “Phoenix Systems has a strong history of more than 28 years delivering top-notch service within multiple vertical markets, especially commercial real estate.”

PSSI, with revenues exceeding $16 million and 35 employees, is a leading provider if access control, digital video, optical turnstiles and intercom systems. The company provides a complete turnkey installation including system design, project management, conduit, wiring, training, IT support and system service and maintenance.

“We are truly excited about this opportunity for our employees to become an integral part of Allied Universal as our business culture and expertise are a perfect match,” says Daniel Gardner, president of PSSI, who will become a consultant to Allied Universal. “I wanted to personally thank all of our employees for their hard work, dedication and commitment to offering superior service to our customers each and every day.”

PSSI’s diversified customer base includes several global entities and Fortune 500 companies. The company has a long history of excellent labor relations including unionized field installers, which presents a competitive advantage in the marketplace, according to an announcement.

The addition of PSSI will expand the Allied Universal Technology Services division within the Midwest region. The division provides electronic access control, video surveillance, fire/life safety, alarm monitoring, emergency communications, hosted/managed services and a variety of global security operating center (GSOC-as-a-Service) offerings.

PSSI was represented by financial advisor Sandra Jones and Co. in the transaction.

In 2019, SSI spoke with executives from Allied who discussed their expansion into technology services. Check it out here.
