Atronic Expands in Midwest With American Detection Specialists Buy

American Detection Specialists’ 11-member staff will continue operations in Springfield, Mo. under the Atronic Alarms brand.

LENEXA, Kan. — Atronic Alarms, based here, recently acquired American Detection Specialists of Springfield, Mo., marking an expansion in the Midwest with its fourth acquisition since 2013.

On its website Monday, Atronic announced the deal was completed in late August. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

American Detection Specialists was established in 1989. Bryan Morris, owner of American Detection Specialists, took over the company after his father and company founder, Jim Morris, passed away in 2011, according to Atronic’s announcement.

“We knew of Atronic’s high reputation,” says Morris, who started with American Detection Specialists in 1993. “Since they are also a family-owned company they have the same values and business ethics as ADSI.”

Morris will remain with company as a branch manager. The American Detection Specialists 11-member staff will continue operations in Springfield under the Atronic Alarms brand.

“We try to use local resources there in the community,” Megan Ragan, head of marketing for Atronic, told the Kansas City Business Journal. “We don’t want to pull out of the community itself.”

The Kansas City Business Journal reports this is the same approach that Atronic used last year for its acquisition of American Electronics in Omaha, Neb. The owners of the company retired after the sale was completed, however, Atronic kept their son, Dan Ward, on as a branch manager.

Merging with these companies was an easy decision because their business practices were similar to those of Atronic Alarms, Vice President Neil Atha explains in the announcement.

“These companies were locally owned and operated and took pride in the quality of services they offered,” Atha says. “Since we’re a family-based company we understand the dynamics of providing a superior service to our community.”

Atronic Alarms has 67 employees in the Kansas City area. After its start in 1982, the company began expanding in 2013 and 2014, when it acquired Advanced Detection and SafeGuard KC, two Kansas City security firms, Kansas City Business Journal reports.
