CertaSite Acquires Iowa-Based Heartland Fire & Security

CertaSite has acquired 17 fire protection and life-safety companies throughout the Midwest in its four-year existence.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — CertaSite, a commercial fire protection and life-safety company, announces it has acquired Heartland Fire & Security, a full-service fire protection and security business based here.

The deal marks CertaSite’s second purchase in Iowa. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Heartland was founded in 2002. Its reputation will allow it to grow under CertaSite within its current customer base and expand into new markets, according to the announcement.

Founder and owner Matt Froeschle along with co-owner Victor Obertance remain with the company through the transition, and all of Heartland’s employees have joined CertaSite.

“CertaSite is the perfect partner to build on the foundation laid by our employees and customers” says Froeschle. “With CertaSite, we have a unique opportunity to blend our knowledge base with a technology-based platform that offers new product lines, is professional and rooted in best practices, and provides significant value for customers.”

CertaSite is led by CEO Jeff Wyatt, who has more than 30 years of experience in the fire protection and life-safety industry. He started his career in the industry as an installation technician and is a veteran of the United States Navy. Wyatt was recruited to lead CertaSite by The Riverside Company, a global private equity firm that is CertaSite’s primary investor.

“We are grateful to Matt, Victor and the entire Heartland family for their continued partnership throughout this process,” says Wyatt. “We look forward to building on the foundation they built by offering employees development and career advancement, and expanded services and support to customers. We are proud to be a part of what these folks have spent many years building.”

With the addition of Heartland Fire & Security, the company has acquired 17 fire protection and life-safety companies throughout the Midwest and is said to be actively engaged in bringing new businesses under the CertaSite umbrella.

Markets of focus for 2022 include current states listed above, along with Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee and West Virginia, according to the company.
