SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Convergint Technologies has furthered its presence in the banking industry with the acquisition of Blaine, Minn.-based Security Products Co. (SPC) for undisclosed terms.

Founded in 1976, SPC is a full-service provider of physical and electronic security systems, construction management services, IT and cybersecurity solutions, and marketing solutions, according to an announcement. The deal marks the 13th company acquired by Convergint in the past two years.

SPC services customers primarily throughout Minnesota and seven other states in the upper Midwest. More than 100 SPC employees will be retained by Convergint. The company will continue operations under SPC executives Dan Chastanet and Marc Weisenburger.

“We are thrilled to welcome SPC to the Convergint family,” Dan Moceri, executive chairman and co-founder of Convergint, states. “Culture is our top qualifier when evaluating the fit of new companies to join Convergint Nation, and SPC shares in the same service-driven values that we believe are central to our success.”

Since its founding more than 40 years ago, SPC has focused on safeguarding the assets of financial institutions, according to its website. Today the company services “hundreds of the nation’s leading banks, credit unions and other security-conscious companies,” the website states. SPC’s portfolio includes intrusion, access control and video surveillance systems, plus cybersecurity and other managed services. It also offers colocation services, workstations, servers, virtual CIO (VCIO) consulting, Avaya phone support and more.

“SPC provides the highest quality of service through the skills of our highly talented and experienced colleagues,” says Dan Chastanet, president and CEO of SPC. “We are extremely excited about the new opportunities for our colleagues and customers that will come from joining forces with a company that values relationships as much as SPC does. Convergint is a perfect cultural fit.”
