Convergint Technologies Acquires Genesis Security Systems

Maryland-based Genesis specializes in design, installation, service and monitoring of access control, IP video and UL-2050 intrusion detection systems.

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Convergint Technologies has acquired Genesis Security Systems of Germantown, Md., for undisclosed terms.

Founded in 2002, Genesis Security Systems employs 75 colleagues at its headquarters. The company serves a Mid-Atlantic base of clients that include AstraZeneca, Exelon, FEMA, National Public Radio, the International Monetary Fund, PEPCO and the World Bank Group.

“The demand for expertise in the utilities industry and Genesis’ service-centric approach made them a natural fit for Convergint,” says Dan Moceri, executive chairman and co-founder of Convergint Technologies. “The Genesis team’s impressive growth and long-term customer relationships were very attractive to us, and by combining their resources with our existing capabilities, we have a stronger base to serve Mid-Atlantic customers and expand our geographic footprint.”

Genesis’ leadership team will remain with the company, including Glen Kruglak, president; Alan Kruglak, senior vice president; Chris Foster, vice president, sales; and Ed Simon, vice president, production.

Genesis is a GSA Schedule 84 contract holder and GSA-approved HSPD 12 integration partner, according to its website. The company bills itself as specializing in design, installation, service and monitoring of Software House access control, IP video and UL-2050 intrusion detection systems.

“Genesis was founded 15 years ago on a dream of providing superior service to our customers and fostering an outstanding work environment for our team members,” says Kruglak. “Today that dream is a reality. Now it is time to expand upon that vision by joining Convergint. We look forward to continuing to provide excellent service to our clients and growth opportunities for our team.”

The acquisition marks Convergint’s 14th transaction since early 2016. In that time, the company says it has grown its service footprint in the United States, Canada and Europe by acquiring regional market leaders whose cultures mirror its own.
