EPS Security Seals Second Deal in 2018 to Grow Michigan Footprint

The acquisition of the Owosso, Mich.-based Security Alarm Co. (SAC) provides EPS Security its first branch office east of Lansing.

GRAND RAPIDS — EPS Security, based here, has acquired Security Alarm Co. (SAC) of Owosso, Mich., the company announced on its website. Terms of the transaction, which adds 1,400 new business and residential customers, were not disclosed.

The acquisition includes the Owosso office, along with six SAC employees. The new customers will increase EPS Security’s customer base to nearly 30,000. EPS Security is the largest family-owned security provider in Michigan and among the largest in the United States, the company says.

“Security Alarm Company has been securing the Lansing area and southeast region of Michigan since 1970,” says Kevin Carlson, president of EPS Security. “We look forward to providing the exceptional level of service SAC customers have come to expect.”

The acquisition of the Owosso-based office also provides EPS its first address east of Lansing. The location will allow EPS to better serve existing Lansing and southeast Michigan customers while providing an exceptional opportunity for future growth, the company says. In the near future, EPS will begin moving SAC customers subscribed to monitoring services to its central station in Grand Rapids.

“Our customers have been great to us for nearly 50 years,” says SAC President Terry Blanchett. “I’m happy to be putting their security and protection needs into the outstanding hands of EPS.”

The deal for SAC marks EPS Security’s second acquisition in 2018, having purchased Comstock Park, Mich.-based Video-Tech-Tronics (VTT) and its 2,500 customers in May.

EPS is one of only a dozen security providers in the U.S. to operate a monitoring center facility that is UL-Listed, FM-approved and Five Diamond-certified by The Monitoring Association (TMA, formerly CSAA). The company provides intrusion alarms, fire alarms, access control systems and video surveillance systems to commercial and residential clients in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
