Red Hawk Acquires SDT to Expand in Philadelphia Region

Based in Newtown, Pa., Security and Data Technologies staffs more than 100 employees, including factory-trained engineers, sales consultants, project managers, technicians and CAD operators.

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Red Hawk Fire & Security, based here, has increased its presence in Philadelphia and the tri-state area of eastern Pennsylvania, central and southern New Jersey, and Delaware with the acquisition of Newtown, Pa.-based Security and Data Technologies (SDT).

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Established in 1988 by industry veteran Jerome Paley, SDT is said to be the largest independently owned fire alarm distributor in the Philadelphia area.

“Bringing SDT on board further strengthens our presence in this important and growing geographic region. We are thrilled to welcome the talented team from SDT to help contribute to Red Hawk’s upward momentum,” says Red Hawk President and CEO Michael McWilliams.

SDT staffs more than 100 employees, including factory-trained engineers, sales consultants, project managers, technicians and CAD operators, according to the company’s website. The firm designs and supplies a broad range of electronic systems, including fire alarms, mass notification, video surveillance, access control, along with nurse communications, digital signage and more.

“We share our employees enthusiasm as we join together with a growing leader like Red Hawk. We have found a like-minded culture where we put the customer first in everything we do. We are excited to be a part of their winning team,” Paley says.

In 2012, Red Hawk Fire & Security was formed as an independent, unified fire and electronic security services brand with a national footprint to serve commercial customers after the acquisition by a Comvest Partners sponsored private investment fund of the U.S. fire and security operations of United Technologies Corp. Since then, the company has focused efforts on successfully growing its commercial client base nationally in the, government, healthcare and education markets.

Red Hawk continues to grow both organically and through strategically aligned acquisitions. In January, the integrator purchased Anaheim, Calif.-based Diversified Protection Systems (DPSI) and Miami-based ATCi Communications.
