Salient Systems Appoints Executive Vice President of Engineering

Software industry veteran Scott Snyder will lead Salient’s overall engineering strategy as the company’s first engineering executive.

AUSTIN, Texas — Salient Systems, a provider of open architecture video management software, has appointed Scott Snyder as the company’s new executive vice president of engineering.

A software industry veteran, Snyder will lead Salient’s overall engineering strategy as the company’s first engineering executive, a key role in an expanding technology leadership team that includes CTO Raja Murugesu and Sanjay Challa, chief product officer.

The company says its technology leadership team is focused on several key areas: expanding Salient’s open platform architecture, strategic development of the company’s Cloud and next-gen technology offerings, and deepening the company’s presence in the enterprise software market.

“Salient’s approach of offering a truly open and agnostic platform will only become more important as businesses are increasingly leveraging our video management software to manage their entire security operations as well as leveraging video data to provide operational intelligence,” says Dave Hood, CEO, Salient Systems. “As part of our leadership team, Scott’s expertise and background in platform development will be a valuable contribution as we invest further into broadening the possibilities for our customers.”

Snyder’s appointment is a continuation of overall growth within Salient, with substantial increases in development positions over the last several quarters. These newly created development positions will further support the company’s initiatives in deepening the functionality and open platform approach of CompleteView, Salient’s Open Cloud Video Data Platform and future roadmap development.

“Salient’s focus on being a pure-play, open platform video management software company positions it well to meet the needs of enterprise software customers today and in the future as needs of those businesses evolve,” says Snyder. “I’m looking forward to helping expand the depth and overall value that CompleteView and Salient can provide.”

Snyder’s most recent post was as vice president, software and retail operations for Austin-based Briggo, an operator of fully automated, robotic coffee kiosks, where he was responsible for all software development and retail operational support.

Snyder has also held senior leadership roles at Tangoe, a Cloud services provider, Trilogy Software, the largest managed mobility services and telecommunication expense management provider as well as positions with IBM.
