Tech Systems Hires Mike Kobelin as Western Business Development Manager

A nationally recognized veteran and leader in the security industry, Kobelin has more 30 years of frontline experience including his most previous roles with Sharp’s robotics program and Aronson Security Group.

BUFORD Ga. — Tech Systems, based here, has hired industry veteran Mike Kobelin to help manage and develop its growing integration business in the Western region of the United States.

“Tech Systems has grown its business with its fanatical approach to customer service and Mike has demonstrated the same mindset throughout his career,” Wayne Smith, president of Tech Systems.

A nationally recognized veteran and leader in the security industry, Kobelin has more 30 years of frontline experience. Throughout his career he has successfully developed and maintained relationships, while providing electronic security solutions for many Fortune 500 clients.

Kobelin began with Oregon-based Selectron where he spent 25 years as sales and marketing manager, vice president and eventually president. He led Selectron through multiple phases of new technology developments while serving several dealer advisory boards, which included working with Westinghouse Security Electronics (formerly Schlage Electronics), Software House and Panasonic.

Much of his industry know-how came from his time with Aronson Security Group (ASG), a leading systems integrator that was acquired by ADT in March. Kobelin worked directly with end-user clients to identify security risks and engineer effective solutions. He joined ASG’s executive management team as the vice president of sales and marketing after the merger between Selectron and ASG in 2008.

While with ASG, Kobelin also served as regional director and vice chairman at PSA Security Network, the world’s largest security integrator cooperative. He then went on to become PSA’s chairman of the board. It was through his PSA relationships that he developed a vast network of industry friends and associates, according to an announcement.

Additionally, Kobelin has served as chairman of the Portland, Ore., ASIS chapter and has been a frequent participant on security panel discussions at ISC and PSA events.

In 2015, Kobelin joined Sharp Electronics Corp. as the national sales director for their robotics division, offering new technology solutions to the security industry. He was responsible for building and managing a team of technology partners, security system integrators and guard services companies to deploy emerging products and services.

Sharp halted its robotic program earlier this year.
