PSA-TEC 2012 to Emphasize Leadership Skills, New RMR Services
PSA Security Network will return to the Westin resort hotel in Westminster, Colo., to present PSA-TEC 2012, May 14-18.
WESTMINSTER, Colo. — PSA Security Network will return to the Westin resort hotel in Westminster, Colo., to present PSA-TEC 2012, May 14-18.
Highly regarded for its industry-leading education designed specifically for systems integrators, each year PSA-TEC attracts a broad range of attendees, including vendors, consultants and end users. Among the event’s highlights are specialized coursework in managed services, video surveillance, access control, business enhancement, plus an array of networking opportunities.
PSA-TEC’s exhibit hall and training sessions will once again be open to all electronic security professionals, not just members of the more than 200-strong integrator cooperative. Hundreds of course hours will be held during the conference for which SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION serves as the official Elite Media Sponsor. (SSI will also host exhibit booth D9 on the show floor.)
The extensive curriculum agenda will be sectioned into four categories and instructed by subject experts from all segments of the electronic security industry. The specific tracks are:
Business optimization — Specially designed high-level topics focus on helping business owners and senior managers run their organizations. In addition to instructor-led training, various related subject matter will be covered in roundtable formats.
Information technology — The track is intended to educate a variety of PSA-TEC attendees — from technicians to business owners — on networking and other IP-based instruction geared specifically for the physical security professional.
Physical security — PSA-TEC’s core competency training is geared toward sales professionals, systems designers, technicians and project managers. Featured coursework covers the latest in security technology, vertical market strategies, vendor certifications and more.
Managed services — The track is designed to assist systems integrators with developing their managed services offerings and covers a variety of RMR-generating opportunities.
This year’s event will feature several new courses structured around the PSA Leadership Institute, which PSA Security launched late last year to help installing security contractors enhance their leadership skills and expand their influence. Among the offerings, PSA President and CEO Bill Bozeman will present 10 lessons from Peter Drucker’s book, “The Effective Executive.” Attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the book at the end of the session.
Also part of the Leadership Institute line-up, “Best Practices in Recruiting and Selecting
Top Performers.” The course will be presented by human resources specialist HRGroup and will address the recruiting and selection processes using specific examples of what techniques are most successful for integration firms.
Each year many attendees earn continuing education credits for ASIS Int’l and BICSI professional development activities. Weeklong certification courses include Cisco CENT, AMAG Symmetry Essentials, Pelco Endura Certification and Facility Commander Wnx Intermediate Certification.
Among numerous panel sessions, SSI Editor-in-Chief Scott Goldfine will moderate “The New Video Surveillance Business: How to Generate Profit on Servers, Storage & Video Management.” Authorities in this realm will delve into market-entry barriers as well as what it takes to thrive in the changing video surveillance market.
The Westin hotel is located between Boulder, Colo., and downtown Denver with nearby shops, restaurants and the nation’s largest ice arena. The venue offers more than 30,000 square feet of meeting space with the Rocky Mountains providing a postcard backdrop.
All PSA-TEC educational sessions and activities will be held at the resort, including a music jam session, jazz lounge and bowling tournament.
