ADT Commercial and AlarmSouth took different routes to winning their awards for Best Vehicle Graphics Design in the 2023 SAMMYs.

One of the most opportunistic ways a security dealer can make a great first impression on potential customers is through their fleet aesthetics and messaging.

Just think about how many times drivers end up behind integration company vans or the amount of looking around while waiting at traffic lights (when not checking phones). This year, ADT Commercial and AlarmSouth impressed the SAMMY judges with their vehicle wrapping, resulting in a category tie. 

That means the companies share the honor for Best Vehicle Graphics Design in SSI’s 2023 Sales & Marketing Awards, better known to most of our readers as the SAMMY Awards. This is one of three SAMMYs won by ADT Commercial this year.

The SAMMY Awards, which are presented annually at the ISC West trade show and now in their 28th year, recognize installing security integrators, dealers and monitoring providers for their marketing, installation and overall business excellence.

Different Tactics, Same Successful Fleet Feats

Statesville, N.C.-based AlarmSouth recently redesigned its vehicle wraps to match a new tagline: Protecting the Carolinas. The most notable piece of the design is a tribute to one of AlarmSouth’s first and most tenured employees, Sam Jordan, who provided over 50 years of service with the company.  

“Sam, unfortunately, lost a battle with cancer in 2021. Sam’s first and only job was at AlarmSouth, where he perfected his craft and helped train countless technicians over the years,” explains Marketing Director Tyler Buchanan. “Each AlarmSouth van has a decal dedicated to Sam, who loved to ride his Harley Davidson. He is forever a part of the AlarmSouth family and rides with every vehicle in our fleet.” 

Right by the logo created for Jordan is also a nod to how long AlarmSouth has protected the Carolinas, with “Est. 1963” placed adjacent to company contact information like phone number and icons representing social channels.

SAMMY Awards

Meanwhile, ADT may have national brand cache, but it realizes the easy marketing play in vehicle graphics.  

“Knowing our vehicles are rolling billboards for our brand, we wanted the main focus to be the ADT Commercial logomark paired with our pillars of service offerings,” says Mallory Pernai, director, marketing communications. “The overall design of the vehicle graphics is meant to communicate forward movement and innovation and to remain an enduring symbol of the trust in our brand on a national scale.”
