How AvantGuard & 3SI Won the 2020 SAMMY Award for Best Website Design

AvantGuard’s website features a host of informational webinars, e-books, blogs and more, while 3SI’s is based on an easy to navigate grid system.

Readability and navigation are integral when it comes to designing a website. If a visitor can’t easily find what they are looking for, you can bet they won’t stick around for very long.

Monitoring center AvantGuard clearly took those factors into consideration when designing its website.

“Our thought process behind the website was to keep things clean and uncluttered. We wanted to provide easy access to all information on the site, and clearly define our services, so anyone who happens to come to the page quickly understands every-thing we offer,” explains Marketing Assistant Brannon Morrison.

AvantGuard’s homepage features plentiful whitespace and a clean interface. As you scroll down, users will see the type of monitoring offered, a pricing calculator, company statistics and contact buttons, all accompanied by minimalistic and colorful, yet unobtrusive graphics.

The site also features a fixed header containing links to industries served, pricing, resources, the dealer portal and a search function. The portal features tools, billing reports, documents and a help center. The company also recently released a new chat tool that is offered to dealers at no additional charge.

The website’s resources section is a cornucopia of information. Here you will find a number of webinars, e-guides, white papers, e-books and cost analysis tools. Content can also be sorted by topics, such as HR, marketing, sales or technology.

Webinars are hosted by AvantGuard partners and industry leaders. Recent topics include: “Visual Verification for Your Business,” “IoT for Recurring Value Creation” and “Tips to Maximize Every Security Sale.”

The site also has a blog that caters to both the average visitor as well as AvantGuard dealers. A quick look and you will find articles about working from home, security monitoring’s spike in thermal technology and how to keep your monitoring company safe from COVID-19 scams.

This space also keeps dealers updated on the latest from the company, including updates to AvantGuard apps, dealer tools and more. “Our website is a refreshing sight, no pun intended, in what can be a dull world,” adds Morrison.

3SI Security Systems: Puttings Solutions at the Forefront

3SI Security Systems has been around for nearly five decades. A leader in advanced security solutions for asset protection and recovery, the company got its start as a provider of smoke and dye technologies to the financial industry. Today, it provides tracking and tracing technologies to the financial, retail and law enforcement markets.

When it came time to redesign its website, 3SI wanted to make sure it reflected both its history and offerings. “The company offers over 20 solutions and services in many different industries. In short, we’ve grown, and we needed a website that would tell this story,” says Lisa Moughan, global marketing communication manager. “Having recently undergone a major rebrand, it was important that the site become an extension of our future goals and priorities. 3SI has evolved into a tech company that is constantly reimagining security solutions, and how our products can contribute to our core mission of creating a safer world.”

The site’s overall design is based on a series of grids and lines. Moughan says the grid system helps improve the quality of the design both functionally and aesthetically, while offering “infinite flexibility.”

As the user scrolls down the homepage, 3SI presents a variety of statistics about the number of criminals the company has helped apprehend and amount of assets recovered.

Moughan adds that the company focused on three areas when it came to designing the site: appearance, usability and content. White space was employed throughout the site to ensure key elements of each page popped.

The site is now responsive, ensuring it functions the same for all users regardless of how they are viewing it. All of the company’s solutions, content and forms can also be easily accessed from the homepage.

Lastly, 3SI has made a significant investment in content creation. Visitors can find a host of white papers, case studies, flyers, brochures and data sheets.

“The new 3SI.com eliminates the fluff , allowing our solutions, executive insights, relevant content and wins to tell a story of dependability and consistency, which are reflective of our values,” says Moughan.
