How Forest Security Won the 2018 SAMMY Award for Best Promo Video
The cheeky promotional video for the company’s smart security system stars Missy, the 10-year-old beagle of Forest CEO Julius Rutili and his wife.
You might know why people are interested in purchasing a security system, but have you ever thought about a pet’s needs? That’s what Illinois-based Forest Security was going for in its cheeky promotional video starring Missy, the 10-year old beagle of CEO Julius Rutili and his wife.
You’ll find Missy, as well as her brother Shamus in many of the company’s advertising materials.The video for their smart security system shows Missy explain why sometimes dogs have better things to do than guard a house.
“We know that people connect with animals and thought it was a brighter side of security rather than showing the standard burglar breaking in,” says Rutili.
The video starts off with the pampered pooch talking about how good she has it — a new collar, a food bowl that’s always full, having her “outdoor business” get picked up for her. It’s no surprise that a dog this loved would have a security system installed by her owners for her protection.
“All of us at Forest love our fur babies and believe that protecting out homes and loved ones includes protecting our pets too. This video shows how much Missy appreciates being protected by a Forest Security System,” says Rutili.
Missy approves of the Forest security system, saying it gives her time to sleep and socialize instead of being a watchdog. The video also includes shots of the services offered by Forest, including its residential smart home security system and its smart phone app, which can control security, HVAC, lights and special notifications.
The entire video was a family affair. It was conceptualized and directed by Rutili’s son Chris. It was also shot at Rutili’s own house and also includes his daughter, employees and of course, the star of the video, Missy.
The video provides pet owners with a great reason to purchase a security system. For non-pet owners, Missy’s big brown eyes may also be convincing enough.
Dogs may bring joy to many people, but as the commercial says at the end, “You know what they say, you can’t trust a dog to watch your house … or your sandwich.”
