SecurityCEU.com, Matterhorn Consulting to Host Communications Skills Series

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — SecurityCEU.com is partnering with Matterhorn Consulting to launch an online educational series focused on building interpersonal communication skillsets.

An announcement describes the thrust of the series, thusly:

It is nearly impossible to find an aspect of business that does not depend upon interpersonal communication in some way. And even with national unemployment rates hovering around 5%, companies are finding it very difficult to fill their open positions. Many people are blaming the lack of interpersonal communications skills on this hiring gap.

Companies say that college graduates lack the skills to communicate effectively with customers, management and their peers.

Communication skills are especially important to the security industry. The systems that are installed and monitored impact lives and property in strong ways. Therefore it is mission critical for security professionals to have very good written and verbal communication skills. That is where the new training series from SecurityCEU.com comes in.

Through its partnership with Matterhorn Consulting, SecurityCEU.com now has three new courses as part of its Communication Skills series:

  • Business Communication Skills Building, Level I
  • Effective Communication Skills for Technicians and Installers
  • The 6 C’s of Communication for Management and Supervisors

The courses provide an interactive format to enhance the learning experience. Each course is approximately one hour in length and covers timely and relevant content for all security professionals, according to the announcement.

The courses were developed through SecurityCEU.com’s partnership with Matterhorn Consulting. Paul Boucherle, founder and CEO at Matterhorn and SSI’s “Business Fitness” columnist, has been providing communication skills training to the security industry for 25 years.

“Matterhorn will now be able to share our methodology for teaching communications skills [via] the Internet. This will give the security professional a lot of flexibility in how they obtain these mission critical skills”, says Boucherle.

The courses are part of a “premium channel” library subscription. For more information about these and other security industry courses, go here.
