Select Security Expands in New Jersey With Garden State Fire & Security Buy

Garden State Fire & Security has served New Jersey residents and business owners for nearly 50 years. The acquisition brings Select Security’s total number of customers to more than 80,000.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Select Security, a provider of security and life-safety solutions for homes and businesses, has completed the acquisition of Garden State Fire & Security in Matawan, N.J. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition brings Select Security’s total number of customers to more than 80,000, according to an announcement.

“The addition of Garden State Fire & Security to our organization brings lots of opportunity for Select Security as we continue to grow in the region,” says Patrick Egan, Select Security’s founder & CEO and 2014 SSI Industry Hall of Fame inductee. “Michael Ash, Sr. spent years building an excellent company and we are excited to expand on what he and his team have built in this growing market.”

Select Security is always looking for well-run companies that would make a great fit with its values, adds Steve Firestone, president.

Select Security was founded in 2003 and operates multiple local offices serving accounts in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, Minnesota, West Virginia, Texas, New Mexico, North Carolina and South Carolina.

The company offers integrated security and fire alarms, video surveillance, access control, along with home security, life-safety and home automation systems. It provides monitoring services through its network of three secure operation centers that are each UL-listed, Factory Mutual (FM)-approved and Five Diamond certified by the The Monitoring Association (TMA).

In 2014, it was awarded SSI’s “Installer of the Year” award, along with being named a finalist for four years in a row for the coveted award.
