SIA RISE Scholarship Program Accepting Entries From Young Security Pros
The RISE program will help awardees expand their professional knowledge in the areas of business, human resources, information technology and more.

SILVER SPRING, Md. – Applications are now being accepted for the SIA RISE Scholarship, a program presented by the Security Industry Association (SIA) RISE community offering $15,000 in scholarship funds for young security professionals.
The SIA RISE scholarship program will help awardees expand their professional knowledge in the areas of business, human resources, information technology, marketing/sales, project management, security engineering and risk management, according to an announcement.
“It’s vital for young talent in the security industry to have access to training and education that will help them in their careers, and SIA looks forward to helping support a new group of tomorrow’s security leaders in achieving their education and professional development goals through this year’s SIA RISE Scholarship,” says SIA CEO Don Erickson.
Five scholarships worth $3,000 each will be awarded. Scholarship funds can be used toward SIA program offerings, such as conferences or SIA’s Security Project Management trainings; other education or events related to IT or cybersecurity; and/or relevant courses or programs offered by associations, colleges, universities and private education firms.
Each applicant for the SIA RISE Scholarship must be either 1) a SIA student member or 2) a member of the SIA RISE community and an employee of a SIA member company with at least one year of professional experience in the security industry. The 2020 deadline to apply for the SIA RISE Scholarship is Friday, Nov. 6. Learn more about the program and submit an application.
SIA RISE is a community that fosters the careers of young professionals in the security industry. RISE is available to all employees at SIA member companies who are young professionals under 40 or have been in the security industry for less than two years.
