Recent Large-Scale Success Earns ADT Installer of the Year Award

Having shuffled its cards more than perhaps any other security player the past two years, ADT has emerged all aces, earning the distinction of SSI 2018 Installer of the Year (Large Company).

Promise of Bright Futures

Amelia Pulliam, ADT Chief HR Officer: ADT’s professional in-house recruiting team leverages multiple sources to attract the best talent into the organization. This includes employee referrals, job fairs, social media outlets and college and university recruiting.

A great approach to hiring is having our top-performing employees recommend friends and family. They understand ADT’s culture, the expectations, accountability and workload.

In terms of skills and experience, it really depends on the position. However, if a candidate is hard-working, believes in the company and wants to deliver outstanding customer service, ADT is the place.

For new employees, we use several onboarding and coaching practices. It is important not to expect new hires to be experts on their first day so we ramp up expectations accordingly. We have recently introduced new-hire surveys at key points during the first 90 days to see what’s working and what could be better.

We are committed to learning and development at all levels. We recognize that the best and most effective way to learn is on the job and as such, look for ways and projects that our employees can do to expand their learning experiences.

For our field-based new hires, we offer multiple weeks of training that incorporates online, classroom and on-the-job education. In addition, many employees experience peer coaching and mentoring during their onboarding and development.

Each graduating class forms a contact group, and often remains in touch to encourage and motivate each other. ADT is unmatched in the industry and provides unlimited career possibilities for those just entering the security business or those with years of security experience.

We make sure all our employees are given what they need to be their best. And when they do, there are great opportunities to grow their careers. ADT also offers a range of competitive benefits.

Our rewards programs recognize employees who go above and beyond. A signature recognition is our annual President’s Circle of Excellence trip to recognize the “best of the best” in performance across all of ADT’s 17,500 employees.

In 2018, the winners, along with their guests, were pampered at one of Jamaica’s finest resorts. For our sales teams that build market share, we provide a special incentive trip called Club 1. The annual three-day trip recognizes our top performers across all sales channels.

ADT’s Always Cares community engagement program (top) supports employees helping local groups. The LifeSaver Award has honored 350+ employees who helped save lives and given over $350K in grants to first responder agencies.

Personal Community Approach

Jason Shockley, ADT Vice President of Corporate Communications: ADT Always Cares is our overarching community engagement program. We encourage employees at our branch offices and monitoring centers to partner with community organizations they are passionate about to show they care and can make a difference.

While we encourage volunteerism throughout the year, we galvanize employees around two ADT Always Cares programs — Week of Service and Season of Service.

Week of Service is held each June. This year, we had 100% participation from all of ADT’s 200-plus offices and centers. Employees and their families contributed thousands of hours of service performing a variety of projects ranging from park/beach cleanups to school beautifications.

Season of Service is held between Thanksgiving and Christmas. That’s when we encourage our locations to help their communities by holding a food drive, donating holiday gifts or volunteering their time to help those in need.

Bob Tucker, ADT Director of Corporate Public Relations: ADT leaders are committed to the security industry. A great example is ADT CIO Don Young, who continually helps improve the industry through his participation in associations and committees.

For the past several years, Don has served on the Board of Directors for The Monitoring Association [TMA] and is a founder and past president of the Partnership for Priority Video Alarm Response.

Additionally, Don has dedicated time and energy to the Automated Secure Alarm Protocol [ASAP] Committee and the Alarm Industry Communications Committee [AICC].

Another contribution to the industry is ADT’s leadership role in helping to stop deceptive sales. Since 2010, ADT has led an industry-wide initiative, along with leaders from the Electronic Security Association [ESA] and TMA, to help educate consumers about deceptive sales in the industry.

Through the years, hundreds of local news stories have generated billions of media impressions to ‘sound the alarm’ about this serious issue. Also, there have been placements on national broadcast news programs like “20/20.”
