TMA Tech Summit Hits High Note Charting Path to Harden Central Stations

Mike Bettilyon, regional vice president of Telarus, a value-added distributor of network and Cloud services, explained the benefits and coming trends of SD-WAN in the marketplace. Here’s a definition: a specific application of software-defined networking (SDN) technology applied to WAN connections, which are used to connect enterprise networks. These include branch offices and data centers over large geographic distances.

Bettilyon said SD-WAN is changing the way networks are procured and deployed, and affects how applications are provisioned and managed. These deployments may be standalone SD-WAN services like Ecessa, Freewire, BigLeaf and Aryaka; or native SD-WAN deployments of Velocloud and others through Telepacific, Earthlink, Met-Tel, among providers.
