2004 ASIS Int’l Seminar & Exhibits: Sept. 27-30, Dallas
Integration was the buzzword on the floor of the 50th Annual ASIS Int’l Seminar & Exhibits from Sept. 27 to 30 in Dallas.
A record number of more than 19,000 attendees and 842 companies jammed the floor space of the Dallas Convention Center, trying to find something they could agree on besides finishing deals, seeing demonstrations of new products and passing along leads. That something was the integration of security products, especially when it came to the growing need for interoperability between physical and computer security.
Peter Boriskin, access control and video systems CTO for Tyco Fire & Security, said the Software House/American Dynamics booth had its share of end users asking how they could bring electronic security systems and IT security together — a question Boriskin could easily answer thanks to his company’s early investment in such a technology bridge.
“We were hedging our bets a few years back and now we see the fruit of our work,” Boriskin said. “It seems to me at this show to be more of a push for the bridge to be at the smart card level.”
