Honeywell Beefs Up Video Analytics Offerings
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Honeywell announces its acquisition of ActivEye Inc. of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., a provider of video analytics software and technology for security and surveillance applications. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“Many customers have already invested in cameras and DVRs/NVRs for security purposes, but they can further capitalize on that investment by using that same equipment to collect and analyze data for important business decisions,” says Honeywell Global Marketing Leader Mike Scirica. “Video analytics is an efficient means of tracking, capturing, and analyzing individual customer and vehicular activity in physical spaces for optimizing resources, improving customer service and increasing sales.
The range of ActivEye video analytics solutions includes Active Alert, a suite of products for manned and unmanned video surveillance systems, which uses video content analysis software and forensic tools to provide real-time alarms based on actionable events and behaviors; ActivEye Smart Impressions, which analyzes individual customer and vehicular activity, and traffic patterns for facilities management and merchandising applications; and ActivEye Forensics, which enables the rapid review and filtering of prerecorded video up to 50 indexed parameters.
“Security is not about finding one single magic bullet — it’s about building layers of protection,” continues Scirica. “Video analytics is a key layer to preventing, catching and prosecuting people who conduct activities that are harmful to your business.”
