I Come Before You as the Luckiest Man in Security

My career in the electronic security industry started back in 1982 as a “sales trainee” with Ademco. The training was excellent. Through the years, I’ve had increasing responsibilities while employed at some of the top electronic security manufacturers. During that time, I subscribed to all of the industry trade magazines, including this one (there were only three back then). My days consisted of making sales and training calls to installing dealers in virtually every region of the country.

Never did I imagine that one day I would become publisher of Security Sales magazine! This is a milestone in my career and I am very fortunate and thankful for this opportunity. Having been a reader for 20 years, I am now on the inside and will continue to help make this publication the best it can be.

Of course, no one can accomplish good things without the help of good people. I am also thankful for the fine team of editors on our staff, headed up by Scott Goldfine. With my sales and technical experience in the field, I pledge that Security Sales will give you the most accurate, unbiased, up-to-the-minute information and technological advances.

One of my first directives will be that we will never print a manufacturer-written article in exchange for advertising. This seems to be commonplace within our industry and I don’t believe it is in the best interest to you, the installing dealer. We will offer our readers first-rate articles written by our own editors, with the help and expertise of manufacturers and industry consultants who wish to educate our readers about emerging technologies. Editorial integrity is a must.

In the upcoming months, you will see upbeat and positive changes at Security Sales. Our goal is to be the finest trade publication in the industry – bar none! I hope it never happens, but should Security Sales magazine ever fall short of your expectations, I would consider it a personal favor if you would let me know about it. Please E-mail me any time with suggestions or comments.

I will be attending my 48th ISC this month in New York. If you see me walking the aisles, please introduce yourself or stop by our booth (No. 2355)!
