New Sonitrol Gunshot Detection Solution Deployed in Indiana High School
Sonitrol’s gunshot detection technology provides 360° of coverage and is powered by 3xLogic.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—Sonitrol, a manufacturer of verified electronic security products, announces the launch of a new gunshot detection solution.
Sonitrol states the goal of any organization is to keep people safe, but increasingly, active shooter situations are rising. To help ensure the safety of people the company says that it is essential to have safety measures in place that deliver fast and effective responses in the event of an emergency.
The company boasts that its gunshot detection solution is powered by 3xLogic, and it identifies the firing of a gun using concussive ultrasonic force recognition technologies.
According to the company, the use of ultrasonic force recognition technologies enable improved accuracy over microphone-based technologies to reduce false alarms. Sonitrol says its gunshot detection solution is easy to install and integrates seamlessly into its verified security systems.
Sonitrol Gunshot Detection Technologies Installed in Gibson Southern High School
Citing a recent installation in Fort Branch, Ind., Sonitrol notes that a recent installation of its gunshot detection technology into the Gibson Southern High School provides the school’s 700 students with a fast-acting emergency response system.
Sonitrol notes the school also needed a security system for after-hours intrusion, along with access control and video surveillance for inside the school and its outdoor facilities, and it was able to provide a complete solution for the high school.
In the event of an emergency situation such as a gunshot the company continues, an alarm will be sent to a Sonitrol central station. This alarm will provide information such as where the gunshot occurred and it will give local authorities important information they normally wouldn’t have.
“We did not know about the availability of these devices, so when Sonitrol approached us about gunshot detection, we said, ‘Yes, let’s add this to our school,’” says D. Lienemann, school resource officer at Gibson Southern High School.
“We met with Sonitrol staff and together we decided to install one unit in the school’s front entryway, one in the cafeteria, and one up in the academic hall.”
