A Growing Security Industry Takes Stock in Expanding Markets

As circuits start to heat up and access control cards get swiped in this first year of the new millennium, the security industry continues to look for new and exciting mediums in which to delve. One of these new areas happens to be related with one of America’s greatest loves: the automobile.

Our February 2001 cover story, entitled “RFID Grows in Access Control Market With Vehicle ID Systems” focuses on the use of radio frequency identification (RFID) in vehicle applications. Many companies, communities and even the government have begun to use this form of access control for identification. Some dealers believe RFID provides a more convenient and reliable method to make an ID. RFID systems can also last longer than some proximity readers. This technology might turn into a moneymaking proposition that gives your company the horsepower it’s been seeking.

The case study in this issue of Security Sales takes a look at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, Calif., and the building’s CCTV system. Working around the busy schedule of the cathedral, problem solving, as well as coping with the pressure of helping to safeguard the venue’s 1 million visitors made this project a difficult one for the installing company, Post Alarm Systems of Arcadia, Calif. The security company also had to make sure to do the job while leaving the beauty of the Crystal Cathedral intact.

The article, “Your Competitive Advantage: The Integration of Services” deals with the duties of the employees in every company. Learn how to see your organization from a different perspective and find out how to run it like a well-oiled machine. Once you determine the roles of each employee, integrating them so that they work better will be as easy as starting the ignition.

For the security industry, as with the rest the stock market, Wall Street isn’t standing so tall at the moment. Security Sales‘ article on the troubled stock market takes a look at high-tech stocks. While these stocks led the industry a year ago in a bull market, they fell just as hard “bearing” the 2000 market shake-up.
