The Benefits of Adding Carbon Monoxide Detection to your Fire System
The EN1245 wireless CO detector is Inovonics newest offering to the market. Designed to be integrated in to your fire or security system, it features an onboard sounder, a CO sensor, LED indicators and local test capability to allow the user total visibility of its functionality.
Carbon monoxide (CO) is odorless and colorless. Building up around common appliances like stoves, fireplaces, gas ranges and furnaces, CO is poisonous and almost entirely undetectable. Though there are symptoms of CO exposure, including nausea, chest pain, headaches and confusion, people who are sleeping or under the influence of alcohol can be poisoned before they become aware of any symptoms at all.
Because CO is both so dangerous and completely undetectable by human senses, failure of CO detectors is not an option. This is the benefit of a supervised, system-level CO detector. Adding one to your fire or security alarm system protects residents from a CO buildup whether asleep, alone, or even out of the house. If CO does build up, the detector will alert both the resident and the central station so that action be taken before residents are poisoned.
Likewise, a supervised, system-level CO detector is continually monitored by the central station. If there is a problem with the sensor, or it simply nears its end-of-life, the central station will monitor the resident to let them know to replace it, so there are no gaps in protection.
