DVR Offers MPEG4 Compression, Up to 8 Channels at 30 ips

Panasonic Security Systems of Secaucus, N.J., announces the new WJ-RT208 8-channel DVR. This DVR includes high-definition, extended capacity recording and uses MPEG4. This allows up to eight channels of real-time video and audio to be recorded at 30 images per second (ips). The system includes hard-disk heat management for better stability, an automatic event log for recording system history, and a multiple DVR configuration when more than one unit is required.

According to Panasonic, each channel can be configured on an individual basis with regard to recording rate, image quality and record mode. The system has a recording capacity of 250GB and can be expanded up to 2TB for long-term recording. The Panasonic Model WV-CU650 system controller can also be used to jointly operate multiple DVRs.
